Original book design of debut poetry chapbook "LONE LILY" by Tariq Thompson (Sunset Press, 2021). Created cover art and layout using a combination of traditional linoleum printmaking, illustration, and AdobeSuite applications including Photoshop and Illustrator.
Drawing upon the central motifs and recurring imagery of the poetry, I hand-printed and composed the grid of subtly unique Night Rider lilies in mixed shades of orange and yellows, drawing the reader's attention to the final lone lily in a deep red.
Turning the page, the interior cover leaves only the lone lily, now in black, to lead the reader into the chapbook.
I designed the interior layout and gallows Using Adobe Illustrator. I placed the interior design in line with traditional poetry publishing layouts, enabling the contents each poem to complicate the reader's understanding of the traditional American poetry canon.
